Colby Raha, a 12-time X Games medalist and world-record holder, completed several jumps exceeding 100 feet in height over the Caesars Palace Front Fountains on Sunday afternoon.
The jumps took place at 2 p.m. at the same location where Evel Knievel attempted his jump in 1967.
Raha, founder of Record Breakers, attempted to surpass his own World’s Highest Motorcycle Jump record of 100 feet.
“When I was a kid, I dreamed of even being somewhere in the realm of being a professional. Then to get the opportunity 3 weeks ago to pull this off with a ton of work. I wasn’t going to let my younger self down. I wanted to make sure that I went for it,” Raha said.
Raha stated he came close to reaching the 100-foot mark.
“All I know is I went higher than the record that I currently own, 90 foot off the floor,” he said.
Raha completed the jump despite challenging wind conditions.
“I watched the weather all week. The news said it was going to be windy, and it was. But to just go out there and navigate the bike in the wind, you could see me steering the bike in the air,” Raha said.
Raha’s jumps were visible above OMNIA Dayclub & Skybar, providing the opening weekend crowd with a clear view from inside the venue.
The Evel Knievel Experience
The jump coincided with Caesars Palace’s 60th anniversary and the upcoming opening of the Evel Knievel Experience.
“It’s so good for the legacy. Knievel started it. He pioneered it. But people like Colby are taking it to a whole new level. It’s so exciting,” said Joe Pennington, who is involved with the museum.
“Today’s all about Colby and I’m just so excited to celebrate like his accomplishments and his inspiration at the Evel Knievel Museum,” Pennington said.
Raha expressed gratitude to his predecessors. “Thank you to the Knievel family for starting this in 67 and all the legends in the past that have done this,” he said. Raha stated he plans to attempt another record.
“I’m going to go for the biggest, furthest distance jump of all time. So we’re just kind of building up to it and that’s what’s next,” he said.
The Evel Knievel Museum is expected to open June 27. The entertainment complex will connect to OMNIA Nightclub by a bridge, creating a combined 121,000 square feet of space.
