While many NFL teams frequently redesign their logos, the Las Vegas Raiders have made minimal changes since 1964, demonstrating a commitment to their enduring and effective design.
The Raiders logo is iconic, featuring a silver and black shield, an eye-patched pirate wearing a vintage football helmet, and two swords behind his head. This imagery effectively represents the organization’s longstanding reputation for toughness and resilience.
Although Raiders fans have long considered theirs the best logo in the NFL, broader recognition is growing. The X/Twitter account NFL Fashion Advice recently held a tournament allowing fans to vote for the league’s best primary logo. Las Vegas won the AFC West division with over 50 percent of the votes.
The Raiders advanced by defeating the Buffalo Bills, then the Jacksonville Jaguars in the semi-finals, and ultimately secured the championship against the Minnesota Vikings. The final round was close, with Las Vegas winning 50.3 percent of the vote. This result affirms the widespread appeal of the Raiders’ silver and black shield.
