Thousands of young athletes will arrive in Las Vegas this week for the inaugural Vegas For Athletes Summer Games. This new event is a citywide Olympic-inspired youth multi-sport festival held from June 22 to 26. Importantly, the event combines athletic competition with a public health mission to protect young hearts.

The festivities begin today with an Opening Ceremony at the Kellogg Zaher Sports Complex. This ceremony will feature a Parade of Athletes, live music, food vendors, and activities from local professional sports teams. Furthermore, the evening will highlight the festival’s signature initiative: free electrocardiogram (ECG) heart screenings for participating youth athletes. This is one of the most unique summer festivals taking place in Las Vegas this year.

Festival Details

Organizers developed the screening program because sudden cardiac arrest is a leading medical risk for young athletes and often occurs without warning. For this reason, by providing free ECG screenings to all registered competitors, Vegas For Athletes aims to make heart health monitoring as routine as a sports physical. This program offers families extra protection before children participate in sports, particularly those happening in the city of Las Vegas.

Competition begins Wednesday, June 24, and continues through Friday, June 26. The festival features more than 13 sports at venues across the greater Las Vegas area. Events will follow a tournament format and will culminate in championship rounds. Organizers anticipate strong participation from athletes and spectators. This highlights the festival’s focus on both athletic competition and community engagement.

The event concludes Friday, June 26, with a Closing Celebration at Cowabunga Bay Water Park. At this celebration, athletes will be recognized for their performances. Also, awards will be presented across all sports to celebrate those who competed in Las Vegas.

Heart screenings will be available throughout the week, supporting organizers’ goal of protecting every young competitor and setting a standard for youth sports in the future. Many hope that Las Vegas will continue to set the bar for youth athletics.
