The Las Vegas Raiders picked 10 rookies in the 2026 NFL Draft, which meant former Minnesota Vikings linebacker Jamin Davis was let go. He’s the one left out of this football story.
Davis once seemed like a key defensive player for the long term in the NFL, especially for those following football careers. Now he’s looking for a new team to join.
Las Vegas recently released Davis. The once-promising defender will now wait for his next chance. He had three combined tackles in those appearances. Davis originally entered the league as the 19th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft by Washington out of Kentucky. Five games into his fourth season in Washington, he was released following consecutive seasons finishing the year on injured reserve.”
Davis will now hope to get a summer contract to maybe join a team’s practice squad. In the world of football, practice squad positions can help players remain in the mix.
In 2025, Davis played very little, taking part in just 16 defensive plays in Las Vegas. The year before, 2024, he had more chances but only average results. He played nine games between Washington and Minnesota. Then he finished the year in New York where he made 18 tackles and one sack over 107 plays.
Despite his recent difficulties, Davis has a lot of experience. Washington picked him in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft, but he never really stood out with the team. Over 54 career games, including 36 as a starter, he has made 287 tackles, 22 tackles behind the line, 10 hits on the quarterback, and 8 sacks. His football journey has certainly had its ups and downs.
Raiders Feel Hopeful
With a new head coach, Klint Kubiak, Las Vegas is finally feeling hopeful going into the summer. Kubiak just created a Super Bowl-winning offense as the offensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks last season. Now it’s his turn to lead in Vegas. He can make his mark on football with the Raiders.
The Raiders also picked Francisco Mendoza with the first overall pick. He has the background and intelligence to succeed as the team’s main quarterback. Kubiak and his team also signed Kirk Cousins from free agency last month. Cousins is ready to start until Mendoza is ready to be the number one quarterback in football.
All things considered, signs are pointing up for the Raiders for the first time since the Jon Gruden era, showing possible improvement in football for the franchise.
Experts expected Las Vegas to finish about 6-11 this season, which would actually be an improvement. Football fans may find renewed hope in these predictions.
