The Las Vegas Raiders finished with the league’s worst record in 2025 in the NFL, making significant offseason improvements necessary. As a storied franchise in the NFL, the Raiders must adapt quickly to rebuild.
The team was active in free agency, signing Tyler Linderbaum, Jalen Nailor, Kwity Paye, and Quay Walker. The roster now appears stronger on paper.
However, one of the most impactful additions may be a fourth-round draft pick. The Raiders selected a player with first-round talent who seems poised to contribute significantly in the NFL.
Jermod McCoy’s Value
Jermod McCoy was projected as a first-round pick in nearly every mock draft. The Tennessee cornerback excelled in 2024 but missed the 2025 season due to injury. Importantly, McCoy’s return to the NFL stage gives the Raiders optimism for the future.
Despite missing a full season, McCoy remained one of the top cornerbacks in the draft. Still, he slid significantly on draft day, falling past the first three rounds.
The Raiders ended McCoy’s slide by selecting him in the fourth round. With their need to strengthen the secondary, adding a top prospect like McCoy offers clear upside.
During OTAs, McCoy has shown potential to start at cornerback. Jesse Merrick of Silver & Black Sports Network noted McCoy does not appear to have lingering injury concerns. In summary, investing in young talent is crucial for any NFL team looking to improve.
This is an encouraging development. McCoy excelled at Tennessee, recording 44 tackles and four interceptions in 2024. He showed strong tackling ability and kept pace with the fastest SEC receivers. talent has never been in question; concerns have centered on his injury. If he remains healthy, as Merrick observed, he has the potential to contribute as a quality starter immediately.
