Drew Dober added another highlight to his already dangerous résumé Saturday night. The veteran lightweight delivered a devastating second-round knockout over Michael Johnson at UFC 326, extending his record for the most knockouts in UFC lightweight history with his 11th finish in the division.
The end came at 1:53 of Round 2 after Dober uncorked a crushing combination a right hand followed by a vicious left hook that snapped Johnson’s head and sent him crashing to the canvas.
One follow-up punch landed before the referee stepped in to stop the fight. “I’m extremely happy but much love goes to Michael Johnson and his team,” Dober said afterward. “I was scared coming in here… All it is, is accuracy. I have that punching power as a gift.”
Before the knockout, Johnson looked sharp. The longtime lightweight contender attacked with stiff leg kicks and quick straight punches, landing clean shots that kept Dober cautious early in the fight. Johnson’s speed created several fast exchanges, including a crisp straight that snapped Dober’s head back during the opening round. But Dober gradually began reading Johnson’s patterns.
By the second round, Dober’s timing had improved. As Johnson looked to engage again, Dober fired a perfectly timed right hand followed immediately by a left hook, a classic two-punch combination that landed flush. The impact was immediate. Johnson collapsed to the canvas and the referee quickly waved off the fight.
Momentum Building Again
The win marks Dober’s second straight victory, continuing a late-career surge for one of the most exciting action fighters in the lightweight division. With knockout No. 11 at 155 pounds, Dober further separates himself as the most prolific knockout artist in UFC lightweight history. And if performances like this continue, the veteran brawler may not be done climbing the rankings just yet.
