Two additional local players have committed to play football at UNLV beginning with the 2027 season.
Centennial’s Laseth Bryant and Bishop Gorman’s Azavier McDaniel are the third and fourth Southern Nevada athletes to join the Rebels’ highly regarded recruiting class at UNLV.
Bryant, a 6-foot-5, 300-pound offensive tackle, is known for his strong on-field awareness and quick footwork. His profile attracted both local and national interest, including from UNLV. Moreover, he received offers from Arizona, Oklahoma State, Washington State, and Boise State. This came after he recorded 12 pancake blocks in five games last season for the Bulldogs.
“If you told me I would be playing college football my freshman year, I would’ve said you’re crazy,” he wrote on X on Monday. “I want to thank everyone who believed in me, my parents, coaches and teammates. This is only the first chapter to where I want to be.”
Gorman three-star cornerback McDaniel announced his commitment Friday on his social media accounts, expressing his enthusiasm to represent UNLV in the future.
McDaniel, a rising senior, is ranked 17th in Nevada’s class of 2027 by 247Sports. Among many offers, the UNLV interest stood out. Additionally, he had Division I offers from Hawaii, Oregon State, New Mexico, and North Dakota State.
Last season as a junior, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound McDaniel recorded 18 tackles in six games for the Gaels, who won the Open Division state title. McDaniel also excelled in track this spring. As a first-team All-Southern Nevada selection, he won the 5A state titles in the 100-meter dash (11.11) and long jump (23-3). That athleticism will add value to the UNLV team.
McDaniel and Bryant join three-star Coronado offensive guard Phoenix Pollard and Faith Lutheran safety Jaden Mason as local recruits committed to UNLV, further boosting the roster depth at UNLV.
