The Las Vegas Raiders finished among the lowest-ranked teams in the NFL last season. They secured the first overall draft pick. Fans are optimistic that this year’s quarterback selection will yield better results than the previous first overall pick in franchise history.
Even though they won only three games last season, the Raiders have reasons to be hopeful for 2026. Good choices by the management and steady growth of younger players have made the team’s future look better. In addition, one big strength stands out as they plan ahead.
One reason the Raiders have a bright future is that they have one of the best tight ends in the NFL on their team. Brock Bowers’ performance dropped in 2025, but don’t be fooled. He is a special player who can lead the offense on his own. With Klint Kubiak in charge, he is sure to improve in 2026.
Bowers played while injured last season and dealt with uneven quarterback play. Even with these problems, he had several great games and was a bright spot in a tough year. Because of this, he is ranked No. 11 on CBS Sports’ Tyler Sullivan’s list of the top 25 players under 25.
Bowers fits well with the Raiders’ long-term plan. Although the team probably won’t compete for a Super Bowl next season, this rebuilding time is important for building a strong base for future success.
“Generational” is often used, but Bowers has demonstrated that he is on a historic trajectory for his position. Many elite tight ends reach and sustain peak performance into their late 20s. Additionally, Bowers will be only 24 by the end of next season.
The Raiders’ biggest strength is having one of the league’s best tight ends while they rebuild, with Bowers likely to reach his best form when the team is ready to compete. Staying healthy will be very important, but his best years are probably still coming.
