The Lady Rebels opened their Texas road swing with a statement win in San Antonio, overpowering UTSA 66–39 on Wednesday night at the Convocation Center to extend their winning streak to three games and improve to 5–3 on the season.
A dominant defensive start defines the night
UNLV raced out to a 13–0 run to open the game and held UTSA to just two points in the first quarter, the program’s most suffocating defensive frame of the year. The Lady Rebels repeated that effort after halftime, limiting the Roadrunners to only eight points in the third quarter and 27.9 percent shooting overall.
Head coach Lindy La Rocque praised the team’s edge and physicality.
“We talked all week about our team being road tough,” La Rocque said. “I thought we did a great job coming out from the jump with great intention and purpose of executing our game plan, playing physical, hard-nosed basketball so that we could put ourselves in a position to win.”
UNLV finished with a 50–33 rebounding advantage, forced 13 turnovers, tied a season high with 18 assists, and controlled the game wire to wire.
Lott delivers a career-high 21
Redshirt senior guard Jasmyn Lott turned in the best scoring performance of her career, dropping 21 points on 9-of-15 shooting, including three made threes. She set the tone early and later buried two key fourth-quarter triples that helped seal the win.
Aaliyah Alexander added 10 points, going 4-of-7 from the field, while Mariah Elohim contributed eight points, all from the perimeter.
Roland continues big week with another all-around performance
Fresh off earning Old Trapper Mountain West Player of the Week honors, sophomore forward Meadow Roland followed with another impactful outing: 14 rebounds, four assists, three blocks, and seven points.
Earlier in the week, Roland earned her conference award after averaging 21 points and 8.5 rebounds in wins over Creighton and UNI. Though she was quieter scoring in San Antonio, she controlled the interior on both ends and was essential in keeping UTSA from generating second-chance points.
Forward Shelbee Brown added 10 rebounds, split evenly on the offensive and defensive glass, and tied for the team lead with three steals.
Roadrunners unable to recover from early hole
UTSA never found rhythm after its slow start, opening 1-for-15 from the field and finishing just 2-for-17 from three. Cheyenne Rowe led the Roadrunners with nine points and eight rebounds.
UNLV’s bench also outscored UTSA’s reserves 20–13, continuing a trend of deeper rotation success during the current win streak.
Next up: Another Texas test
The Lady Rebels remain on the road, heading to Rice on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 12 p.m. PT (ESPN+), looking to push their streak to four. The Owls are 6-3 on the year and beat Sam Houston 66-50 on Wednesday.
