The Las Vegas Raiders are still looking to fill out their coaching staff.
Head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek were just the first pieces to come along, and they have started to gradually assemble a staff that can help guide the Raiders back to prominence.
Defensive coordinator Patrick Graham and special teams coordinator Tom McMahon, as well as defensive line coach Rob Leonard, are staying for the 2025 season, ensuring some continuity.
The offense is still in a state of flux, although Miami Dolphins quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator Darrell Bevell has emerged as a favorite for offensive coordinator.
The Raiders were hoping to secure Los Angeles Chargers wide receivers coach Sanjay Lal, but the divisional rival blocked the move.
However, the Raiders came one step closer to some clarity on Saturday.
According to CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones, the Raiders have interviewed Houston Texans quarterbacks coach Jerrod Johnson for their offensive coordinator position.
The Raiders interviewed Texans QBs coach Jerrod Johnson for their vacant offensive coordinator position, sources tell @NFLonCBS. Johnson, who’s worked closely with C.J. Stroud these 2 seasons, is a candidate for the Texans OC job along with the interest from Pete Carroll.

Johnson has finished his fifth year coaching in the NFL and second with the Texans, working directly with star quarterback C.J. Stroud.
Johnson is also a candidate for promotion to Houston’s offensive coordinator vacancy, after the team fired Bobby Slowik on Jan. 24.
It makes sense for the Raiders to show interest in Johnson, given how he was able to contribute to a team with a rookie quarterback and turn it into one of the most promising units in the NFL.
With Johnson only being 36 years old, he is also young enough to serve as a viable succession plan for Carroll when the legendary head coach retires.
The Raiders need to find the right offensive coordinator to elevate their top players, and Johnson stands out as an interesting candidate for the job.
