Two of combat sports’ most polarizing stars will share the ring this fall. Sources confirmed to The Ring that Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Jake Paul will meet in an exhibition bout on Nov. 15 at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, streaming live on Netflix. Davis (30-0-1, 28 KOs) was originally scheduled to face Lamont Roach in a lightweight title rematch this month. That fight was scrapped after Davis’ July 11 arrest on alleged domestic violence charges, which were later dropped. The Baltimore native last fought in March, escaping with a controversial draw against Roach that left fans demanding an immediate rematch.
Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), meanwhile, was negotiating a blockbuster showdown with former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua. According to sources, those talks collapsed over network disagreements. Paul instead pivoted to the Davis matchup, a clash that promises spectacle more than competitive parity.
Weight Disparity and Exhibition Rules
The fight will be contested under exhibition rules due to the massive size difference. Davis is a career lightweight at 135 pounds, while Paul competes as a cruiserweight with a 200-pound limit. Expect modified stipulations, including heavier gloves and catchweight boundaries, similar to Floyd Mayweather’s 2021 exhibition with Logan Paul (160 vs. 190 pounds).
Paul enters with a major physical advantage — at 6-foot-1, he holds a 7½-inch height edge over the 5-foot-5½ Davis. Still, Davis’ power and pound-for-pound credentials make the matchup intriguing, even as an exhibition.
Paul’s Netflix Run Continues
This will be Paul’s second consecutive November showcase on Netflix. Last year, he faced 58-year-old Mike Tyson in a heavily modified but sanctioned eight-round bout, marking Netflix’s debut in live boxing. Paul won by decision and has since defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in June, while briefly flirting with a potential clash against Canelo Alvarez.
What’s Next for Davis?
The exhibition leaves Davis’ lightweight title picture in limbo. His controversial draw with Roach created demand for a rematch, but this detour could stall that rivalry indefinitely. Whether Davis returns to defend his belts in 2025 remains to be seen.
A Night of Spectacle
Like Mayweather vs. Logan Paul, this matchup is less about divisional supremacy and more about crossover entertainment. Still, the event is certain to draw enormous attention. With Davis’ proven drawing power — his 2023 clash with Ryan Garcia sold over a million PPVs — and Paul’s crossover appeal, Nov. 15 could once again break viewership records.
