On Sunday, the NFL world was rocked by an unspeakable tragedy.
Former LSU wide receiver and 2025 Draft prospect Kyren Lacy was confirmed by multiple sources to have died the previous night in Houston. According to Harris County (Texas) authorities, Lacy was involved in a police chase, which ended when police found Lacy dead as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The incident happened days before Lacy was scheduled for a court hearing related to a fatal hit-and-run case in December.
The news garnered sympathy across the NFL world for Lacy and his family, including from Las Vegas Raiders superstar Maxx Crosby.
Crosby shared a powerful message to his social media followers shortly after Lacy’s death.
In a post on his X account, Crosby spoke about avoiding judging others and encouraging kindness.
Let’s Normalize Supporting Eachother First Instead Of Judging. Let’s Formulate Our Own Opinions About Others Instead Of Going Off Of Passed Down Judgements. Put On For The Ones That Hold It Down For You. Keep Your Circle Small. You’re Not For Everybody & Everybody’s Not For You…

While Lacy is not explicitly mentioned in the post, the fact that the message was posted hours after the news of Lacy’s passing broke suggests at least some level of correlation.
Throughout his career, Crosby has also been forced to battle his own personal demons. On March 11, 2020, the defensive end surprised many by checking himself into rehab in response to alcoholism. Last month, Crosby shared a photo of a new tattoo on his right hand of the aforementioned date, celebrating five years of being sober.

With a young man’s career and life tragically cut short, Crosby’s message of withholding judgment in the face of unknown circumstances hopefully resonates with people.
