The Denver Nuggets faced off against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, and the game remained tightly contested. After three quarters, there was only a two-point difference.

However, in a dominant fourth quarter, the Thunder outscored the Nuggets 40-21, securing a significant victory on their home court, led by Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Tonight, these Western Conference powerhouses and MVP contenders will compete again.

Denver

The Denver Nuggets are 3rd in the conference, trailing the Thunder by 12 games.

They’ve won three of their last five, including wins over the Kings and Suns, but lost to the Thunder 127-103. They’ve covered the spread only once in that span.

Nikola Jokic averages 28.8 points per game but scored 24 or fewer in four of his last five. Jamaal Murray is averaging 21.4 PPG with three games of 24 or more recently.

Michael Porter Jr. averages 18.4 PPG and has shot over 52% in three of his last five games. Christian Braun has scored at least 15 points in five straight games.

On the road, the Nuggets are 2-3 in their last five, covering the spread twice. They average 121.2 points per game, ranking 3rd, but allow 116.5 points, placing them 22nd defensively.

OKC

The Oklahoma City Thunder are vying with the Cavaliers for the top NBA record, having secured their division and conference titles, leading the Nuggets by 12 games.

They’ve won nine of their last ten games, including a 127-103 victory over the Nuggets, covering the spread.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, a top MVP candidate, averages 32.8 points per game and scored 40 on Sunday. Jalen Williams, battling a wrist injury, averages 21.4 points.

The Thunder have five players scoring in double digits and are 4-1 in their last five home games, with an average of 119.6 points per game while allowing 106.6 points, ranking second in the NBA for defense.

Nuggets-Thunder Best Bet

While yesterday’s Nuggets-Thunder game wasn’t very competitive and was a statement for OKC, I doubt they repeat that performance.

These are two of the top teams in the Western Conference and could end up being the Western Conference Finals. 10.5 points is too many points to give the Nuggets in this one.

Despite the weird schedule quirk of having these two teams play each other back-to-back, I like the Nuggets to cover the number in this one.

Best Bet: Nuggets +10.5 points at -110 odds
