Maxx Crosby voices support for candidate in Raiders quarterback search

If the Las Vegas Raiders want the first year in the Pete Carroll-John Spytek era to be successful, they need better quarterback play.

Gardner Minshew and Aidan O’Connell failed to move the needle in 2024, and running it back with those two as the only options is not viable in the slightest. As a result, the Raiders have been linked to virtually every quarterback available this offseason. Whether they hit free agency or the draft for their solution, if not both, general manager Spytek has his work cut out for him early on.

He will receive input from several sources during the search, and that now includes star pass rusher Maxx Crosby revealing his own opinion on the matter.

Crosby has vouched for New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers to join the Raiders for 2025.

On his podcast “The Rush,” Crosby spoke out on the possibility of the future Hall of Fame quarterback taking his talents to Las Vegas for the upcoming season.

“I think with the doubt and all the negativity around Aaron Rodgers… I think he’s going to come back and have a big year this year and I hope it’s in our town,” Crosby said.

While Rodgers’ tenure with the Jets did not end as planned, that does not mean the Raiders cannot rely on him as an option for next season.

In a similar fashion to Russell Wilson signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers last offseason, the Raiders have the option of signing Rodgers for cheap due to the Jets having to pay a massive dead cap hit to move on. Even with Rodgers being past his prime, he still stands as an upgrade over the Minshew-O’Connell tandem. It is also possible that the Raiders have a better infrastructure in place for Rodgers to succeed, with a few playmakers already on the roster and a young offensive line loaded with potential.

Rodgers is one of many quarterback options the Raiders have available this offseason, but having Crosby’s stamp of approval is a good sign of his candidacy.
