Jaden Henley led UNLV in a 68-55 win at the Thomas & Mack Center against in-state rival, UNR. Henley scored a career-high 23 points.
The game was a part of the Silver State Series presented by America First Credit Union.
Henley had his second career-high game. Jalen Hill added 16, Julian Rishwain scored 11, and Jeremiah Cherry closed out the trio with 10 points.
Kobe Sanders led UNR, scoring 30 points. Justin McBride added 12 points.
The Runnin’ Rebels recorded a season-high 48 rebounds. UNR managed to grab down only 27 rebounds for the game.
UNLV was nearly perfect from the free-throw line, shooting 20-for-21 from the line.
The Runnin’ Rebels were able to turn a small 20-19 lead into a 31-21 lead with less than 2 minutes to play before halftime.
In the final minutes of the game, the Runnin’ Rebels led by as many as 16 points with under three minutes left in the game.
In the post-game press conference, UNLV coach Kevin Kruger said, “Couldn’t be more proud of them for competing the way they did and having such great defensive possessions for 40 minutes. It’s a group that I think defensively is feeling really good right now. We’ve got to keep that momentum going.”
In its regular-season finale, the Runnin’ Rebels will host San Diego State for Senior night on Tuesday at 8 p.m. The game will be nationally televised on CBS Sports Network.
