Aces look to start new winning streak against Dallas

On Wednesday, The Las Vegas Aces will open up Commissioner Cup play with a matchup against the Dallas Wings. The game will be televised on NBA TV starting at 5 pm.

The Las Vegas Aces are looking to bounce back from a tough road loss against the Atlanta Dream with a road win against the Dallas Wings. Dallas is currently on a 2 game losing streak and are 3-4 coming into this matchup well the Aces are 4-2.

The Wings will be without Natasha Howard, Jaelyn Brown and Satou Sabally who are all out due to injury well the Aces will be without Chelsea Gray and Kiersten Bell. Vegas has won all five of their last games against the Wings and 16 of the last 18.

Matchup of Two High Powered Offenses

This game will be feature two high powered offense both lead by a top scorer in the WNBA. Dallas is led by Arike Ogunbowale, who leads the WNBA in scoring with 26.6 points per game and averages 4.7 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.9 steals.

The Wings feature three double-digit scorers around Arike: Monique Billings (14.0 ppg), Maddy Siegrist (13.4 ppg), and Teaira McCowan (12.3 ppg). This has contributed significantly to the Wings top-five WNBA offense, which averages 82.6 points per game and scores a league-high 64.7 percent of its points inside the arc.

The Aces are led by the WNBA’s second-leading scorer, A’ja Wilson, who averages 26.5 points per game, 12.5 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists, and 2.8 blocks. Aside from Wilson, the Aces have a high-scoring backcourt with Jackie Young averaging 20.7 points per game and Kelsey Plum averaging 18.7 points.

The Aces are looking to become the first team in WNBA history to have three teammates averaging 20+ points per game in the same season. Only two teams have had a pair of 20+ point scorers on their roster at the end of the year.

The Aces lead the league in scoring, averaging 86.5 points per game, and have the league’s second most efficient offense, with a 104.8 efficiency rating, trailing only the Liberty (107.1).

This game will go down in history since Wilson and Ogunbowale are the highest scoring opponents in WNBA history.
