MIAMI — The wait is over, Olympic Gable Steveson is officially headed to the Octagon. During the broadcast of UFC 327, the UFC announced that the decorated Olympic wrestler will make his promotional debut on July 11 at UFC 329, set for T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas during International Fight Week. No opponent has been named but the expectations are already sky-high.

At just 25 years old, Steveson enters the UFC as one of the most hyped prospects in recent memory. His resume speaks for itself:

  • Olympic gold medalist
  • Two-time NCAA national champion
  • Elite wrestling pedigree considered among the best to ever transition into MMA

It’s the kind of foundation that has historically produced champions.

Dana White: “We’ll See How He Does”

Dana White made it clear the UFC is excited but not handing anything away. “There’s no easy fights here. We’ll see how he does.” Even with Steveson’s credentials, the UFC remains the ultimate proving ground.

Steveson’s journey to the UFC hasn’t been traditional.

After dominating the wrestling world, he briefly explored:

  • A run with WWE
  • An attempt to break into the NFL

Now, he’s fully committed to combat sports and the early results have been explosive.

Fast Finishes, Big Power

Steveson has wasted no time making an impression in MMA:

  • 98-second TKO win in his debut against Braden Peterson (LFA)
  • 15-second knockout in a Dirty Boxing ruleset bout
  • 24-second finish over Kevin Hein
  • Most recent win over Hugo Lezama in under four minutes

The common theme? Dominance and speed.

What to Expect at UFC 329

While his opponent remains unknown, Steveson’s debut instantly becomes one of the most intriguing storylines of International Fight Week. Questions surrounding him include:

  • How quickly can his wrestling translate at the highest level?
  • Can he handle elite-level striking and submissions?
  • Is he a future contender or even champion in the making?

The Next Big Thing?

The UFC has seen decorated wrestlers come in and change divisions before. Now, it’s Steveson’s turn. And come July 11 in Las Vegas, all eyes will be on whether one of the most decorated amateur wrestlers ever can turn hype into reality inside the Octagon. Gable Steveson’s UFC journey officially begins.
