Jacobe Smith (11-0 MMA, 2-0 UFC) has wasted no time making his mark since joining the UFC last October following a stoppage win on Dana White’s Contender Series. The undefeated welterweight announced himself with a 73-second knockout of Preston Parsons in January, then followed up with a second-round submission over veteran Niko Price in June.
With two finishes and minimal damage taken, Smith is eager to keep the momentum going.
Open to Any Opportunity
Speaking backstage at DWCS 82, Smith made clear that he doesn’t care whether his next fight comes on short notice or a full camp.
“I’m at a stage in my career where (I’ll take) whatever comes,” Smith said. “Place doesn’t matter. Give me a fight as quick as possible. I know my fans miss me. I’m ready to get out there and make a little bit more money for my family.”
He also admitted that financial discipline is driving his urgency. “I am being smart with money on the backend,” he joked, “and you know, taxes is a motherf*cker.”
Staying Active and Patient
Smith said he’s in constant contact with his management, pushing for a fast turnaround. Still, he emphasized he’s being “patient, smart, and collectively thoughtful” about how quickly he climbs the ladder.
The Oklahoma native remains focused on balancing his undefeated rise with long-term career planning. Time waits for no one and Smith is ready to make the most of his time at the UFC.
A Warning to Future Opponents
Regardless of who’s next, Smith promised one thing:
“Make sure you’re ready because it’s gonna be a fight.”
