The Runnin’ Rebels’ Four-Game Winning Streak Snapped

The UNLV Runnin’ Rebels saw their four-game winning streak snapped, and their hopes of remaining undefeated in the Mountain West conference dashed Tuesday with a 81-59 loss at the hands of Boise State.

The Runnin’ Rebels (9-6, 3-1 Mountain West) entered this contest winning five of its last six games.

Jailen Bedford scored a team-high of 11 points, while Dedan Thomas, Jr. and Jaden Henley scored 10 points each. Jeremiah Cherry and Jalen Hill scored eight each.

Too Much Boise State

The Broncos (12-4, 4-1) went up early in the game, going on a 10-0 run in a span of three minutes. The Broncos took a 27-12 lead with 8:19 left in the first half.

Tyson Degenhart, who picked up a double-double, led the Broncos, scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds. Alvaro Cardenas scored 13 points and dished out nine assists.

The Runnin’ Rebels attempted to come back three times in the second half, trimming the lead to 15, but they did not get any closer.

Outhustled

The Broncos outrebounded the Runnin’ Rebels 38-2, collected 13 offensive rebounds and converted them to 16 second-chance points.

Boise State also managed 20 points off 14 UNLV turnovers.

Cherry led the Runnin’ Rebels in rebounds with five. In the paint, the Broncos also led 40-22.

What’s Next for the Runnin’ Rebels?

The Runnin’ Rebels will go on the road to take on Colorado State on Saturday at 1 p.m. local time. The game will be aired on the Mountain West Network.
