Coming into the 2024 season, the Las Vegas Raiders have serious questions on both sides of the ball. The Raiders were at the back of the pack when it came to total offense, total defense, and scoring. During the off-season, there were no impact moves to be able to change those results. So what did fans honestly expect out of first-year head coach Antonio Pierce? Coaches are often looked at as a scapegoat, so it’s not a surprise that Pierce is one in this case.
????????????????????????: There have been “murmurings” linking former #Titans HC Mike Vrabel to the #Raiders if Antonio Pierce is let go, per @BrianCoz
“I think Vrabel is heading for the #Raiders, murmurings in the league have him going to Las Vegas.”

This season has been one that screams a team in rebuild mode since the season started. As much momentum and energy as the Raiders have shown under Pierce, it still hasn’t translated to many wins on the field. It was very apparent that this team needed a real upgrade in talent throughout the roster to get better. This is the NFL, you need talent to win. The Raiders have talent but do not enough to be a contender for the division.
Raiders fans prepared themselves for when star wide receiver Davante Adams became unhappy with the team. Luckily, the Raiders came away with great draft capital for the declining player who seems to want to play with his friends. That draft capital will help in the future when trying to rebuild the roster.
Have to try to solve the puzzle
Defensively the Raiders have improved and have played well enough to keep the team in a position to win games. But there’s only so much the defense can do when the offense continues to play poorly.
If the rumors of Pierce being let go become a reality after the last game of the season, then whoever comes in to replace him must be given a full deck of cards to work with. You can’t expect miracles when you know you have an incomplete product. For a team that needs to improve at multiple positions, it might be wise to try to bring in more talent before they let go of the coach that most of the players have vouched for to become their head coach. But when it comes to the Raiders, things don’t make that much sense. The days of “Just Win Baby!” are long gone and bringing in a previously fired head coach is not the answer. This is not the Raiders standard that former owner Al Davis worked so hard to build.
