In resounding fashion, the Lady Rebels (4-1) continue their dominance in an 88-54 win against San Diego (2-1) on Tuesday night at the Cox Pavillion.
Big Time Teamwork
Led by redshirt freshman, Meadow Roland who came in off the bench with 15 points, four different Lady Rebels scored in double digits to secure a win. Meadow Roland also contributed with 9 rebounds (6 defensive and 3 offensive). Guard Kiara Jackson added 14 points and issued a team-high of 4 assists. Guard Amarachi Kimpson and guard Aaliyah Alexander both added 13 and 12 points respectively.
Capitalizing off of Turnovers
The Lady Rebels racked up 13 steals while forcing San Diego into 19 turnovers. They then scored 28 points off of those turnovers. Aaliyah Alexander, Kiara Jackson, Kenadee Winfrey, and Macie James all had 2 steals each. The Lady Rebels held San Diego to only 6 points in the second quarter and 8 in the fourth quarter.
Going Hard in the Paint
The Lady Rebels continued to score the bulk of their points in the paint. With Meadow Roland herself snatching down nine rebounds total. The Lady Rebels used that to their advantage by scoring 46 of their 88 points in the paint. The Lady Rebels also had 4 blocked shots.
Coach Lindy La Rocque said, “We saw a lot of good things out there tonight and I’m proud of us being able to get the win. Our team knows that we have multiple things we have to improve upon, and we have to be a lot better come Friday.”
