On Sunday evening, the Los Angeles Dodgers will host the New York Mets in Game 6 of the 2024 National League Championship Series.
The Mets extended the series with a 12-6 victory in Game 5 on Friday. Notably, every game in the 2024 NLCS has been decided by four runs or more. The Dodgers currently hold a 3-2 edge in the series.
New York Mets
Sean Manaea is set to start on the mound for the Mets in Game 6. This will be his fourth postseason start, and he’s maintained a solid 2.65 ERA in the playoffs. Throughout the entire 2024 season, Manaea has performed exceptionally well on the road.
During the regular season, Manaea recorded a 3.17 ERA with only 0.7 home runs allowed per nine innings on the road, compared to a 3.75 ERA at home with nearly 1.4 home runs allowed per nine innings.
In Game 2 in Los Angeles, he secured a win for the Mets after surrendering two earned runs in five innings.

Containing the Dodgers bats for a second time will be a challenge, as they entered October with the most runs scored of any playoff team.
Their offensive prowess has continued in the postseason, with an average of 5.2 runs per game during the regular season and six runs per game in the playoffs.
In Game 5, the Mets’ offense finally broke through after being held scoreless twice and managing only two runs in the previous four games of the series.
They have had a strong showing, with five players delivering multi-hit performances and at least one RBI during their 12-6 victory on Friday. Center fielder Starling Marte and first baseman Pete Alonso each contributed significantly, each driving in three runs.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has decided to go with another bullpen game in Game 6, a strategy that worked well in Game 4 against the San Diego Padres but didn’t go as planned in Game 2 against the Mets.
The Dodgers have a relatively well-rested bullpen. Michael Kopech, Blake Treinen, and Evan Phillips are the team’s three most effective relief pitchers, having only pitched once in this series.
Both teams also had an off day, so seeing some high-leverage relievers being used for more than three outs wouldn’t be surprising.

Los Angeles’ bats have been on fire in this series, as the Dodgers have scored 36 runs in the first five games of this series, with 27 of those runs coming in their three victories.
During the NLCS, shortstop Mookie Betts has been red-hot, going 8-for-22 with two home runs, three doubles, and eight RBIs. Third baseman Max Muncy, designated hitter Shohei Ohtani, and centerfielder Andy Pages, also hit two home runs each in the series.
The Dodgers have hit nine home runs, while the Mets have only managed four.
Mets-Dodgers Best Bet
Both teams are expected to approach this game with a sense of urgency, as the Dodgers aim to avoid a Game 7 and the Mets are determined to force one.
The Mets have consistently come through when they’ve been in these do-or-die situations all postseason. However, the Dodgers have been very good at home this postseason, losing only twice.
It has been announced that first baseman Freddie Freeman won’t be in the lineup for the Dodgers, due to an ankle injury, so that should help the Mets. This series feels like it’s destined for seven games.
The Mets on the moneyline at +125 odds is the best bet in this one.
