JoJo Wooden will serve as the Las Vegas Raiders’ Senior Director of Player Personnel for the 2024 season and beyond.

The 54-year-old spent the past 11 seasons as the Director of Player Personnel for the Los Angeles Chargers. He was hired by then-Chargers general manager Tom Telesco in 2013 and they’ve worked together ever since.

Well, that is until a few months ago.

On Dec. 15, 2023, the Chargers fired Telesco and named Wooden the interim GM in his place. The decision came just one day after the Raiders pummelled the Chargers 63-21 — a clear sign that changese were imminent.

Wooden remained with the team through the final three games of the season, but they decided against retaining him this offseason.

On Jan. 23, the Raiders hired Telesco to be their new GM — paving the way for a Telesco-Wooden reunion in Las Vegas. Two weeks later, that reunion was all but confirmed.

NFL Network insider Ian Rapaport was the first to report the news on Feb. 8.

On Feb. 26, the Raiders officially introduced JoJo Wooden as Senior Director of Player Personnel. If his role is similar to that in LA, he’ll be responsible for both the pro and college scouting departments.

Prior to his time with the Chargers, Wooden spent 16 seasons with the New York Jets. He worked his way up from a pro personnel assistant to pro scout, director of pro scouting, and eventually the assistant director of player personnel.

He now joins a Raiders’ team looking to right the ship in 2024, but it won’t be easy.
