Runners, cyclists and walkers in the southwest valley of Clark County have a new path to explore.

On Wednesday, Clark County officials introduced a 3.1-mile, multipurpose trail loop at James Regional Sports Park. This matches the distance of a typical 5K run.

The trail, which cost about $9.8 million, is open to the public daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. It goes around the edge of the 107-acre park. Additionally, the park is mostly made up of 16 soccer fields, and has two side-by-side paths, officials said.

One path is a 10-foot-wide paved asphalt lane made for cyclists, rollerbladers, and walkers, officials said in a news release. Meanwhile, the other is a 5-foot-wide packed granite lane, a soft surface made for runners and joggers.

Commissioners teamed up with the Clark County Public Works Department to build two tunnels under Robindale Road at both ends of the trail. This helps keep users safe.

Las Vegas is one of the most dangerous cities in the United States for pedestrians. According to a 2025 study by KURU, a footwear company, it ranked third in pedestrian deaths, with 3.41 per 100,000 people.
