In 2025, the Las Vegas Aces won another championship, further strengthening their legacy. Their story truly illustrates how aces can continue to set new standards in professional basketball. However, the customary post-championship tradition did not take place.

After sweeping the Phoenix Mercury 4-0 in the WNBA Finals with a 97-86 victory on October 10, led by A’ja Wilson, the Aces did not visit the White House. A team spokesperson said President Donald Trump’s administration did not extend an invitation.

This is the second year in a row the WNBA champions have not visited the White House. No NBA or WNBA championship teams, including the aces, have been hosted during Trump’s terms.

The Aces visited the White House to celebrate their championships in 2023 and 2024. This absence marks a notable change as Becky Hammon’s team continues building its legacy as a league dynasty and as defining aces in the sport.

The Trump administration has not hosted any WNBA or NBA team for a championship visit. Such visits for women’s sports teams have been infrequent throughout President Donald Trump’s tenure. This instance marks the first occasion on which the Aces have secured a title without visiting the executive estate.

White House and America 250

This discussion occurs as sports and politics continue to intersect. Recent debates over a proposed Fanatics initiative to add “USA 250” commemorative patches to professional sports uniforms have prompted strong reactions across leagues—including among the aces and other players.

Aces forward Brianna Turner, treasurer of the WNBA players’ union, criticized the initiative, saying broad celebrations of America’s 250th anniversary do not adequately recognize the historical experiences of many communities, including the predominantly Black and female athletes in the league.

To celebrate another championship, the absence of a White House invitation highlights the evolving relationship between professional sports, public figures, and national traditions once considered standard for title-winning teams. Notably, the experience has been different for the aces compared to other champions.
