Since John Spytek assumed the role of general manager for the Las Vegas Raiders, he has prioritized strengthening the front office by recruiting experienced executives from organizations such as the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles.
Blake’s Credentials
Blake spent one year at Notre Dame and previously worked at Colorado alongside Deion Sanders. His experience also includes recruiting roles at Southern Methodist University (SMU) and Texas Christian University (TCU). Prior to his recruiting career, Blake played cornerback at Baylor and SMU.
Although Blake is an early-career executive, his knowledge of collegiate football is expected to be valuable during the draft. He will need to adapt to the professional level. Spytek aims to balance the front office by integrating emerging talent with experienced personnel. Blake may need time to establish his reputation in the NFL, but his potential is clear.
The Raiders appear to be progressing positively, with a first-round draft pick quarterback on the roster and a dynamic young head coach.
The roster remains incomplete. Spytek acknowledges the team’s progress but recognizes that further improvements are needed.
Spytek faced significant pressure following his first season as the Raiders’ general manager, during which the team recorded the league’s poorest performance. Owner Mark Davis has previously demonstrated a willingness to replace general managers after a single season.
The past year brought considerable challenges for Spytek, which he aims to avoid in future seasons.
If the upcoming season mirrors the difficulties of 2025, Spytek’s position may be at risk. However, current indications suggest the Raiders are positioned for at least modest improvement. Provided the team avoids significant setbacks, Spytek is likely to retain his role.
