Norma Dumont Eyes Title Shot, Looks to Extend Streak at UFC Fight Night 274

LAS VEGASNorma Dumont believes she’s one win away from undeniable title contention. The surging contender enters UFC Fight Night 274 riding a six-fight winning streak and looks to make it seven when she faces Joselyne Edwards in the co-main event at UFC APEX.

With the division’s championship picture still forming, Dumont sees this fight as her moment to stake a clear claim.

Dumont (13-2 MMA, 9-2 UFC) has quietly built one of the most consistent runs in the women’s bantamweight division. Another win Saturday, she says, should put her next in line for the belt whether it’s against Kayla Harrison or Amanda Nunes. “Kayla and Amanda have to fight so we can figure out who I fight next,” Dumont said. Her message is simple: let the title fight happen then give her the winner.

A Dangerous Opponent

Standing in her way is a fighter with momentum of her own. Edwards (17-6 MMA, 8-4 UFC) enters on a four-fight winning streak, with all victories coming by stoppage. The Panamanian contender has quickly become one of the division’s most aggressive finishers. But Dumont isn’t buying the hype.

“I’ll Expose the Holes”

While acknowledging Edwards’ strengths, Dumont believes she holds the edge in overall skill and strategy. “She’s a dangerous fighter… strong in both areas,” Dumont said. “But there are a lot of holes in her game. I’m going to explore those holes and impose my will.”

Dumont expects a mixed battle striking and grappling but ultimately one where her control and fight IQ take over. With a potential superfight looming between Harrison and Nunes, the rest of the division is jockeying for position.

For Dumont:

  • A win = strongest claim to the next title shot
  • A loss = momentum halted in a stacked contender race

For Edwards:

  • A win = immediate leap into title contention
  • A statement finish = undeniable breakout moment

One Step from the Spotlight

Dumont has done everything right so far winning consistently, beating quality opponents, and staying active. Now comes the biggest test: Turning momentum into opportunity.

If she delivers Saturday night, the conversation may no longer be if she gets a title shot, but when.
