Klint Kubiak: Maxx Crosby Return Feels Like Raiders’ Biggest “Free-Agent Signing”

LAS VEGAS — Maxx Crosby never really left. At least, that’s how new Klint Kubiak sees it. Following a dramatic offseason that saw Crosby nearly traded to the Baltimore Ravens before a failed physical voided the deal, the star pass rusher is back with the Las Vegas Raiders and fully bought in.  Speaking at the NFL Annual League Meeting, Kubiak made it clear there’s no lingering tension.

“I’ve seen Maxx almost every day

… he beats a lot of the coaches in there,” Kubiak said. “It’s kind of like he never left. I felt like we picked up another free-agent signing once we got him back.” That sentiment echoes general manager John Spytek, who has maintained that Crosby’s return was ultimately “meant to be.”

Crosby is currently recovering from offseason meniscus surgery the same issue that reportedly caused Baltimore to back out of the trade. But Kubiak isn’t worried. “I think training camp, he’ll be back ready to roll,” Kubiak said. “With the way that he works, it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s ready earlier.” For a defense built around Crosby, that timeline is critical.

Culture Shift Under Kubiak

Beyond talent, Kubiak emphasized character as the foundation of the rebuild. “It all starts with having quality people that the young guys are gonna want to follow,” he said. That philosophy aligns with Crosby’s presence a player widely respected for his work ethic and leadership.

The Raiders lost Maxx Crosby and got him back.

For Klint Kubiak, that might be the biggest win of the offseason. Because while free agency reshaped the roster… Crosby is still the foundation of everything Las Vegas is building.
