Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was released from custody May 27. Meanwhile, the Brown County District Attorney’s Office continues to review a charging decision tied to an alleged domestic violence incident.
District Attorney David L. Lasee said his office requested additional investigation. He said investigators believe more evidence may exist. As a result, that evidence could affect whether prosecutors file charges and which charges they pursue.
Yesterday, Hobart-Lawrence police arrested Jacobs and booked him into the Brown County Jail. Police listed five allegations: battery (domestic abuse), criminal damage to property (domestic abuse), disorderly conduct (domestic abuse), strangulation and suffocation and intimidation of a victim. Police said officers responded May 23 at about 8:37 a.m. to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs.
Jacobs denied the allegations through his legal team. However, police said the investigation remains active and ongoing. The department also said it will not release more information at this time.
Jacobs’ attorneys said he was released from custody and that no criminal charges have been filed against him. They said they expect a full review of the evidence to show no charges should be brought in the future.
Before a scheduled organized team activity May 27, Packers coach Matt LaFleur did not take questions about Jacobs’ arrest or status. Instead, he pointed back to the team’s earlier statement. “I’m going to stick with the statement we put out as an organization and just let the process play out,” LaFleur told reporters.
For Las Vegas fans, Jacobs remains a familiar name. The Raiders drafted him in the first round in 2019 with the No. 24 overall pick out of Alabama. He spent five seasons with the franchise and led the NFL in rushing in 2022 and signing with Green Bay in 2024.
