Mariah Elohim, a 5-foot-10 senior guard, just reached 1,000 career points in the NCAA. She scored 14 points in the Rebels’ last matchup against the Air Force Falcons, helping solidify the 64-58 win and adding the cherry on top of that success.

In just 13 games this season, she has scored 101 points. Her best game came against the Fresno State Bulldogs, when she posted 17 points, 1 rebound and 1 steal while shooting 58.3 percent from the field. She followed that with another strong outing against the Falcons, scoring 14 points with 1 rebound and 1 assist while shooting 50 percent from the field.

She has been on a different level in January, averaging 15.5 points while shooting 54.2 percent from the field over her last two games. That is a big jump from her season averages of 9.4 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 33.9 percent from the field. If she keeps it up with help from her teammates, the Rebels can be a tough matchup for anyone.

Elohim has played for two other schools. She first played for the LIU Sharks in her freshman and sophomore seasons, where she had her breakout year as a sophomore, averaging 12.7 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists. She then transferred to California to play for the Fresno State Bulldogs, the same team UNLV beat 85-59 on December 31.

Elohim has finally found a home at UNLV, where she continues to improve and score in bursts. With hopes of playing professionally, where is her ceiling as a basketball player?
