BREAKING: Terence Crawford Announces Retirement From Boxing After Historic Three-Division Undisputed Run

Terence Crawford, one of the most accomplished fighters of his era and a three-division undisputed champion, has officially announced his retirement from boxing. The 38-year-old made the decision public Tuesday in an emotional video posted to his YouTube channel.

“I’m stepping away from competition, not because I’m done fighting, but because I’ve won a different type of battle,” Crawford said, per Yahoo Sports. “The one where you walk away on your own terms.”

The announcement comes months after Crawford defeated Canelo Álvarez on Sept. 13 to become the undisputed super middleweight champion a victory that added yet another historic milestone to his already legendary résumé. Earlier this month, however, he was stripped of the WBC version of the title after failing to pay sanctioning fees.

Crawford Reflects: “I Fought for My Family… I Gave This Sport Every Breath I Had”

In his retirement video, Crawford looked back on the motivations that fueled his rise from Omaha to global superstardom.

“Every fighter knows this moment will come, we just never know when,” he began. “I spent my whole life chasing something. Not belts, not money, not headlines. But that feeling the one you get when the world doubts you but you keep showing up and you keep proving everyone wrong.”

He continued: “I fought for my family. I fought for my city. I fought for the kid I used to be, the one who had nothing but a dream and a pair of gloves. And I did it all my way. I gave this sport every breath I had.”

One of Boxing’s Most Decorated Careers

Since making his professional debut in 2008, Crawford carved out one of the most dominant and decorated careers in modern boxing:

  • 42-0 record with 31 KOs

  • World titles in five weight classes

  • Undisputed championships at 140, 147, and 168 pounds

  • Wins over elite names including

    • Errol Spence Jr.

    • Shawn Porter

    • Israil Madrimov

    • Kell Brook

    • Yuriorkis Gamboa

    • And most recently, Canelo Álvarez

His ability to move up in weight and dominate every division he entered without ever losing a fight places him among the sport’s all-time greats.

A Legendary Run Ends on Top

Crawford’s decisive upset victory over Álvarez in September not only cemented his status as the sport’s pound-for-pound king but may have also provided the perfect final chapter.

With the biggest win of his career now in the rearview mirror, Crawford says he is ready for the next phase of his life.

The boxing world, meanwhile, is left to reflect on the legacy of a fighter who unified divisions, silenced doubters, and walked away undefeated.
