In the first half, the Aces stayed consistent, making majority of their shots from the outside, specifically Jewell Loyd and Jackie Young. The Aces ended the first quarter going 7 of 12 from the three-point line and leading the Sparks 29-13.
NaLyssa Smith made a power move inside the paint against Cameron Brink only for Brink to catch an elbow from Smith and a bloody nose. Brink did not return to the game.
Chelsea Gray got in on the three-point show in the second quarter. The Aces ended the first half going 11 of 19 from the three-point line. The Aces led 53-32 going into the locker room at halftime.
To begin the second half, the Aces continued to keep up the pace that they finished the first half with. A’ja Wilson even added to the Aces three-pointer party with a couple of her own. Aces led 68-46 with 4:48 remaining in the third quarter.
Cheyenne Parker-Tyus checked in in the third quarter to get a little magic going. She shot her own three-pointer to give the Aces a 77-58 lead going into the fourth quarter.
With 6:40 remaining in the fourth quarter, former Ace Kelsey Plum went the length of the court to lay it up off the glass for the Sparks to put a dent in the Aces lead.
The Las Vegas set a single game record, shooting 22 three-pointer as a team, shooting 48.9% from the three-point line.
“I think we just wanted to finish off the regular season on a good note,” Aces coach Becky Hammon said.
Hammon continued, “They’re rolling, they’re having fun, they’re playing the right way.”
The Aces defeat the Los Angeles Sparks 103-75. The Aces will face Seattle on Sunday, September 14 in the opening round of the playoffs.
