A Las Vegas Raiders player has found himself in serious legal trouble.
According to 8 News Now, Raiders defensive end Charles Snowden was arrested Tuesday on the charge of driving under the influence.
Records from the Clark County Detention Center indicated that Snowden had been booked early Tuesday morning and released him. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police arrested Snowden after receiving reports about a suspicious vehicle. Snowden’s charge is the first offense of DUI of alcohol and/or controlled or prohibited substance, which is classified as a misdemeanor.
Snowden joined the Raiders on their practice squad in 2023 before debuting with the team earlier this season. In 13 games (seven starts), Snowden has 30 tackles, one and a half sacks, and three tackles for loss, emerging as a key depth piece on the Raiders’ defensive line.
Snowden’s case is the third time in four years that the Raiders have seen a player arrested on a DUI charge. Last year, the Raiders released safety Roderic Teamer a day after he had been arrested for DUI.
In 2021, the Raiders had a high-profile incident involving DUI with wide receiver and former first-round pick Henry Ruggs. In November of that year, Ruggs was arrested for driving drunk and causing an accident that killed a woman and her dog. Ruggs pleaded guilty to the incident in May of 2023 and was sentenced three to ten years in prison that August.
As of Thursday morning, the Raiders have yet to release a statement in regards to the incident, nor has a decision been made by the team on whether to release Snowden.
It has been a difficult year for the Raiders on the field, and the bad news has now spread off of the gridiron as well.
