WATCH: Golden Knights’ Cassidy happy with team’s defense

For the third consecutive game, the Vegas Golden Knights dominated on the defensive end. It was no different against the Dallas Stars, as the Golden Knights won 3-2 at T-Mobile Arena on Friday.

During their three-game winning streak, Vegas has allowed just three goals.

Golden Knights coach Bruce Cassidy liked how his team played in the last three games, particularly in terms of how close they are to putting together a 60-minute game.

“We’re closer, right?” Cassidy said. “If you look at the games, I thought Winnipeg start to finish was pretty good. Anaheim was really good. They’re not on the same level as Winnipeg, Dallas, and Edmonton. No disrespect to them, but they don’t have the firepower, so it’s a little bit tougher for them. Edmonton was a good 45. I think in the third, we could have extended the lead. Pushed a little harder, but still pleased that the guys were mindful of managing the puck. Sometimes, if you manage the puck, you’re going to play really well.

“You’re not going to be 60 minutes every night this time of the year, but we’re inching towards it.”

The Golden Knights have earned a point in eight of their last nine games, with the blowout loss against Utah being the lone blemish.

In the early portion of the season, Vegas was outscoring teams. Cassidy always expected the goal-scoring to level off, which it has. But if the Golden Knights can win tighter checking games, it’s a good sign for them.
