The No. 1 player in Nevada chooses to Play for Alabama

A seismic shift has occurred in college football signing news, former LSU Tigers 4-star commitment Derek Meadows of Bishop Gorman flipped his commitment from the Tigers and decided to commit to playing football for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide.

Meadows is the top-ranked player in Nevada, the No. 7th ranked receiver in the nation amongst wide receivers, and the No. 46th recruit overall.

As reported by Touchdown Alabama, the 6-foot-6, 200-pound wide receiver had committed to playing college football at LSU early this year and seemed to be a solid commitment.

Meadows explains why he flipped from LSU to Alabama.

“I have a great relationship with the coaching staff at Alabama,” the four-star recruit said via the Las Vegas Review-Journal. “I feel like they will develop me and take me to the places I want to go.”

It also didn’t hurt that Alabama signed five-star quarterback Keelon Russell out of Texas.

Alabama has produced receivers like Devonta Smith of the Philadelphia Eagles who was the last wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy, Jerry Jeudy of the Cleveland Browns who broke several NFL receiving records against the Denver Broncos Monday Night and All-Pro and future Hall of Famer Julio Jones.

Meadows also wants to help the Crimson Tide win another national championship.

“I expect the coaches to push me to be my best,” Meadows said. “So, we can win another national championship.”
