Raiders not expected to drastically change offense

LAS VEGAS – Don’t expect the Las Vegas Raiders to make wholesale changes to its offense when it takes the field against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

“You’re not going to go in and put in a new offense in the bye week of Week 10,” Las Vegas offensive coordinator Scott Turner said during media availability on the Raiders website.

Turner expects to tweak things on the offensive end with things he’s comfortable with. He wants to provide the players the tools needed to make plays, play fast, and gain confidence amid the team’s five-game losing streak.

“There might be a couple of new things here and there, and we’ll see how that grows,” Turner said. “It’s about the player believing in the play and knowing what to do so they can play fast and reach their capabilities.”

One of Turner’s main focuses is building continuity in the run game. The Raiders rank last in rushing yards and second to last in attempts.

“We have to get first downs to give ourselves more attempts to run the football,” Turner said. “We’re lacking in efficiency but lacking in attempts.”

The Raiders brought on Scott’s father, Norv, to act as a senior advisor to the coaching staff.

The younger Turner suggested it to Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce, who was on board with the idea of bringing in Norv as an advisor.

“We like being around each other. We lost some coaches on offense, so just another set of eyes,” the younger Turner said. “He knows how I see football since I learned most of it from him. Being able to have him at practice every day and helping with input is invaluable.

“He’s not afraid to tell me what he thinks. That part of it is great.”
