Tyreik McAllister Is A Raider!

© Stephen R. Sylvanie-USA TODAY Sports

After having a very strong preseason and clearly being the star of the Las Vegas Raiders offense Tyreik McAllister was awarded a roster spot on Tuesday to add to the depth at wide receiver.

With a roster spot on the line going into the final preseason game against San Francisco, there was a good feeling that McAllister could actually make the roster. But he didn’t want to leave it up to the coaches so he just went out there and take matters into his own hands. Without a doubt Tyreik was clearly a man on a mission.

Last season season McAllister led the CFL in kickoff return average and all-purpose yards with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats last season. He showed that he could keep that same energy in the NFL. As he took an 81 yard punt return to the house. You can clearly see his versatility and his ability to be effective in the return game is going to be a huge help for the Raiders this season.

Future impact

McAllister wasn’t finished there. He made a cross body catch and ended up taking it to the house for 35 yards for another score. For a team that’s looking for playmakers offensively. It looks like they’ve found one in McAllister as he’ll have an impact in the wide receiver room. But especially as a returner.

The 5-foot-10, 185-pound McAllister is a converted receiver so he fully deserves the credit for being versatile and coachable enough to be able to grind and do the work just to put himself in a position to make it in the NFL. Tyreik McAllister is a prime example of never giving up on his dream to play in the NFL. Now the Raiders are going to continue to utilize the versatile playmaker.
