Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark announced Friday that she will not play in the team’s Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) game against the Las Vegas Aces on Sunday, July 5, according to Brian Haenchen of the IndyStar.
Clark participated in Friday’s practice and said she aims to return during Indiana’s upcoming road trip. The Fever’s next two WNBA games after Sunday are July 8 against the Los Angeles Sparks and July 9 against the Phoenix Mercury.
“Feeling a lot better, excited to get back into practice today and then, feeling really really positive about getting back into one of the games at the back-to-back,” Clark said. “Obviously, it’s difficult coming back in a back-to-back, so we’ll have to be cautious of that, but I feel a lot better and like I said, excited to get back into practice. This week has been very helpful for my overall health.” The WNBA season can be tough on athletes’ bodies.
Clark left the Fever’s WNBA game against the Phoenix Mercury on June 24 with 5:15 left in the third quarter due to a back issue and did not return. She has missed time this season because of a back injury. In 2025, she played only 13 games due to multiple injuries, including her left quad, left groin, right groin, and ankle.
