Clark County approved a resolution designating the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix as an annual event through 2037. However, this is contingent on race officials reducing setup and teardown times.

Board of Clark County Commissioners Chairman Michael Naft stated that the county expects Grand Prix officials to complete infrastructure improvements before the vote. As a result, the commission unanimously approved the updated resolution. This extends it by five years beyond the previous 2032 end date.

Clark County Manager Kevin Schiller, introducing the item at Tuesday’s meeting, outlined planned F1 improvements. These improvements are designed to streamline installation and removal of race infrastructure.

Last year, track assembly, the race, and dismantling took about four months. This was five months less than the inaugural 2023 event. The 2023 event required nine months primarily to pave the 3.8-mile course to F1 and FIA standards.

The resolution mandates that the Grand Prix be held annually the weekend before Thanksgiving. It also permits waivers of certain county ordinances to allow the race on the Strip. The event will continue on the same 3.8-mile street circuit. This circuit includes Las Vegas Boulevard, Koval Lane, and Harmon and Sands avenues.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority is negotiating an extension of its agreement with F1 to host the race annually. The current agreement secures the event in Southern Nevada through 2027, with a new five- to ten-year deal under consideration.

F1 has announced sellouts for each of the first three Las Vegas Grand Prix events. This year’s race is scheduled for November 19-21.
