The Athletics put together their loudest day of the spring Sunday, rolling past the Cincinnati Reds 12-4 at Hohokam Stadium to improve to 2-6 in the Cactus League.

Oakland hit four home runs, stacked crooked numbers in the first, third and eighth innings and got three scoreless frames from right-hander JT Ginn, who earned the win.

Langeliers sets the tone in the first

The A’s jumped in front right away against Cincinnati starter Andrew Abbott.

Nick Kurtz worked a one-out walk, and Shea Langeliers followed by launching a two-run homer to right for a 2-0 lead. Langeliers was not finished. He doubled home Jacob Wilson in the third, giving him two extra-base hits and three RBIs in two at-bats, plus a hit by pitch.

Three-run blast breaks open the third

Oakland’s third inning turned into a pile-on.

After Langeliers’ RBI double made it 3-0, Max Muncy walked and Austin Wynns crushed a three-run homer to left-center to push the lead to 6-0. Wynns went 2 for 3 with three RBIs.

Ginn cruises, Reds swing back

Ginn worked three shutout innings, allowing one hit with two strikeouts and two walks. Gage Jump followed with two scoreless innings and three strikeouts.

Cincinnati finally got to the scoreboard in the sixth when Nathaniel Lowe hit a three-run homer off Nick Anderson. Dane Myers added a solo homer in the seventh off Geoff Hartlieb, trimming the lead to 7-4.

Eighth inning turns into a party

Oakland answered with its biggest punch in the eighth.

Clark Elliott doubled, Gavin Turley walked and Brett Harris walked to load the bases. Joey Meneses then hit a grand slam to right, restoring daylight in a hurry. Two batters later, Tommy White added a solo shot to right-center to cap a five-run inning.

The A’s play the Padres at 12:10 p.m. PT.
