Ayden Garcia led a relentless UNLV attack Sunday, and the Hustlin’ Rebels never let Bradley breathe in a 20-9 win that completed a three-game sweep at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
Garcia finished 4-for-6 with two doubles and three RBIs as UNLV scored 11 runs in the first two innings and piled up 23 hits. Then even when Bradley briefly made it messy in the middle frames, the Rebels answered with steady pressure and another late push to finish the weekend at 5-2.
Five straight extra-base hits
UNLV set the tone with loud contact right away.
Reggie Bussey opened the first with a double. Next, Marcos Rosales doubled to left-center to drive him in. Garcia followed with an RBI double down the right-field line, and Drew Barragan made it three straight run-scoring doubles with one of his own.
After that, Nin Burns II ripped an RBI triple down the right-field line. Jonny Rodriguez then grounded out to bring Burns home. In the end, UNLV posted five runs in the first on five consecutive extra-base hits.
The Hustlin’ Rebels kept it rolling in the second. Garcia doubled down the line again for two RBIs. Then Barragan singled up the middle for two more. Cooper Sheff followed with a two-RBI single to center, and UNLV carried an 11-0 lead into the third.
Bradley pushes back, UNLV answers
Bradley finally scratched a run in the third. The Braves added four more in the fourth, cutting the margin to 11-5.
However, UNLV answered in the bottom of the fifth. Rosales came around to score on a throwing error. Burns then doubled down the left-field line for an RBI, and Sheff followed with an RBI single to center. As a result, UNLV stretched the lead back to 14-5.
The Rebels tacked on two more in the sixth. Barragan singled home Bussey, and Burns added another RBI single to make it 16-5.
Bradley scored once in the seventh and added three runs in the eighth. Still, UNLV had a response again. Burns scored on a wild pitch in the eighth, and Jayden Sanchez followed with an RBI single to cap the scoring at 20-9.
