Two-time heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has always carried his roots proudly. Now, he carries the names of his fallen friends with him permanently. Joshua recently visited Fulham Tattoo in London to ink the names “Latz” and “Sina” on his upper right arm a tribute to Sina Ghami and Latif “Latz” Ayodele, who were killed in a devastating car crash during Joshua’s December trip to Nigeria.

The fresh ink sits just beneath the outline of Africa already tattooed on his shoulder a powerful symbol of identity, heritage, and now remembrance.

A Tragic Trip Home

Anthony Joshua traveled to Nigeria late last year to further explore his roots when tragedy struck. A vehicle carrying Joshua and members of his team was involved in a crash that claimed the lives of Ghami, his recovery therapist, and Ayodele, his personal trainer. Joshua sustained minor injuries and was hospitalized for several days before returning to the United Kingdom in January.

The loss hit deeply. Ghami and Ayodele were more than part of Joshua’s inner circle. They were brothers in both life and business. After initially taking time away from the spotlight, Joshua addressed the tragedy in a video message to fans. “I could reach out to all of you far and wide, worldwide who are showing so much love, care, support through that tragic, traumatic time where we lost Latz and Sina in Nigeria,” Joshua said.

“I know what my duty is. They were my brothers, my friends, first and foremost. Then we became business partners, we became hustlers, we became generals, we became everything.”

The words reflected not just grief but responsibility.

A Permanent Tribute

Fulham Tattoo announced Joshua’s visit in an Instagram post, calling it an unexpected walk-in from the former unified champion. The decision to place the names under the African outline carries layered meaning.

For Anthony Joshua, Nigeria represents family lineage and identity. Now, it also represents the final chapter he shared with two men who helped shape his professional and personal life. The tattoo ensures their presence never fades.

Career on Pause

Joshua’s boxing future remains temporarily uncertain. He was expected to face longtime rival Tyson Fury in March following his knockout victory over Jake Paul in December. However, the aftermath of the crash has left negotiations and timelines unclear.

For now, the focus appears to be healing mentally and physically. The heavyweight division will wait. Grief doesn’t move on a promotional schedule.
