Forward, freshman Tyrin Jones is making history by leading the Mountain West Conference in total blocks. He is averaging 2.1 blocks per game, with 38 this season. He is also in the top 25 nationally in blocks, achieving this feat in just 18 games.

His most blocks in one game was four, during their matchup with the Boise State Broncos on Jan. 13. The game was won in overtime, with a final score of 89-85. Without Jones’ defense and Dra Gibbs-Lawhorn’s career-high 33 points, the game would have been lost.

Aside from being a defensive menace, he continues to be proficient on the offensive end as well. He is averaging 11.2 points, third best on the team behind Gibbs-Lawhorn’s 17.1 and Kimani Hamilton’s 12.4 points per game.

While sitting third on the team in steals per game at 1.1, he is doing it while averaging only 0.9 turnovers per game. If that was not enough, he also has the second-best field goal percentage at 56.4. Undoubtedly, proving to be one of the most complete players in the entire conference.
