Today is Thursday, May 7, and two days remain until the Las Vegas Aces open the 2026 season. At Dice City Sports, we are counting down to opening tip as the defending champs chase a fourth championship in five years while we rank the top 14 players in franchise history.
Sophia Young-Malcolm
Young-Malcolm checks in at No. 2 after becoming one of the greatest players in franchise history during the San Antonio era. Across nine seasons with the Silver Stars, she averaged 14.3 points, 6.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.6 steals in 301 games.
Her peak was elite. Young-Malcolm made three All-Star teams, earned four All-WNBA selections and twice made All-Defensive teams. From 2007-12, she averaged at least 13.2 points every season and topped 16 points per game four times.
Why she ranks here
Young-Malcolm ranks this high because she combined scoring, rebounding and defense for nearly a decade. Her 4,300 points, 1,807 rebounds, 477 steals and 34.7 win shares make her one of the franchise’s most complete players.
Background
Young-Malcolm was born Dec. 15, 1983, in Kingston, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. She played at Baylor and attended Evangel Christian Academy in Shreveport, La. The San Antonio Silver Stars selected her with the No. 4 overall pick in the 2006 WNBA Draft.
