After the success that has been acquired by the UNLV Lady Rebels in the last four years under coach Lindy LaRoque, of course there’s going to rumors of a possible departure from the program.
Although the Lady Rebels finished a promising season with a disappointing bounce from the Mountain West Tournament, the Lady Rebels were still a dominant force in conference play, winning their fourth-straight regular-season conference championship.
This was the first season since 2021 that the Lady Rebels did not punch their ticket to the NCAA Tournament under coach LaRoque.
In five seasons at UNLV, the program has had a record of 120-30.
By looking at this stat sheet for LaRocque, it would totally make sense for people to think that she would be interested in more high-profile coaching position in a larger league.
According to Sports Illustrated, LaRoque shut down the rumor saying, “The future at UNLV and our program winning championships are my top priorities. I couldn’t be more excited to be here in Las Vegas focused on those things with my family. My staff and I are already working towards another championship. Go Rebels!”
The program that has been rumored to offer LaRocque a head coaching position is the Arizona Wildcats. It seems like a likely destination since there is a connection between LaRocque and Athletic Director Desireé Reed-Francois who was once UNLV’s athletic director who hired LaRocque.
However, that is not the case and LaRocque is committed to bringing the Lady Rebels more success in the coming years.
