The noise surrounding the draft strategy of the Las Vegas Raiders mostly circles around selecting Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the sixth overall pick.
Most, if not all, mock drafts have locked Jeanty in to the Raiders, and fans are getting more hyped up about the dynamic running back heading to Las Vegas. While the Raiders have plenty of other options at their disposal, fans could come across as disappointed if they find their latest draft dreams crushed.
For general manager John Spytek, however, one particular fan’s set of demands could ultimately force his hand.
Spytek described receiving pressure to draft Jeanty from an unlikely source.
On a SiriusXM NFL Radio interview, Spytek revealed that his oldest son Jack has been vocal about the Raiders drafting Jeanty, to the point he provided his father with an ultimatum.
“My son has made it no secret that if we don’t pick Ashton Jeanty at No. 6 that he’s walking out of the family and he’s gonna find somebody else, probably whoever takes Ashton,” Spytek said. “He walked right into our building and basically told [owner] Mark Davis ‘If my dad doesn’t take Ashton Jeanty, he’s doing a bad job.'”

In fairness, Spytek is keeping the situation light-hearted, with his chuckling during the story convincing this as more of an early April Fool’s Day joke. Spytek’s other comments about the incident also describe it as little more than harmless fun.
“Jack is motivated by fantasy football and touchdowns,” Spytek added about his son’s demands.
It is probably little more than a harmless father-and-son interaction, but Spytek might want to consider drafting Jeanty anyway just in case.
