The 4 Nations Face-Off Championship featuring Canada and the USA is set for this Thursday at 8 p.m. ET, taking place at TD Garden in Boston.

Following an intense match on Saturday, Team USA will go head-to-head with Canada for the championship title. Canada opened the scoring with a goal from Connor McDavid, but USA’s Connor Hellebuyck made crucial saves, leading his team to a 3-1 win.

Canada

Canada’s recent performance raises serious concerns, especially regarding its ability to finish games. After leading 4-0 against Finland, Canada allowed three goals in the last seven minutes, narrowly escaping defeat with a lucky empty-net goal.

Despite a favorable scoreline, Canada’s lack of offensive pressure and high-danger chances is alarming, especially compared to Finland’s aggressive attacks.

While stars like Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon are pivotal, support from players like Mark Stone and Sam Reinhart has been limited.

Goalie Jordan Binnington, despite some strong moments, has shown vulnerabilities under pressure, making him unpredictable. In contrast, Adin Hill offers steadiness and composure in goal, which could prove beneficial for the team moving forward.

USA

Following the decision to secure a spot in the championship game, Team USA opted to rest several key players, including goalie Connor Hellebuyck, who watched from the press box as Jake Oettinger took the loss against Sweden.

With the title game approaching, Hellebuyck is expected to return to the net. Captain Auston Matthews, who has been managing a minor injury, is also projected to play.

However, the team will be without defenseman Charlie McAvoy, who was hospitalized due to an infection, leaving his status uncertain. His absence will be felt, especially since his physicality was crucial in the earlier match against Canada.

Team USA has called up Quinn Hughes as an emergency backup, although Jake Sanderson will step in if another defenseman gets injured.

As excitement builds for the championship game, anticipation is high for a thrilling matchup. While the intensity may differ from previous contests involving fights, fans can still expect an action-packed game.

Canada-USA Best Bet

Team USA has consistently outperformed in the expected goals department across all three of its games, notably limiting Canada to just one goal in their round-robin matchup.

Given this context, I doubt Team Canada will find a way to beat Hellebuyck more than twice. With this being the final, Canadian head coach Jon Cooper will likely be eager to have six skaters on the ice in a trailing situation as the game progresses.

A late empty-net goal could push the score over the total of 5.5, resulting in a Team USA victory of either 4-2 or 5-2.

Best Bet: Over 5.5 Goals at +110 odds.
