Nashville Predators forward Jonathan Marchessault told the Las Vegas Review-Journal’s Danny Webster that he’s excited to see his former teammates when the Vegas Golden Knights come into town on Tuesday.
“I would say I’m more excited to see all my teammates that I played with for a lot of years, and that I won with,” Marchessault told Webster. “That’s the thing I’m excited to do. I can’t wait to see the boys.”
Marchessault spent seven seasons with the Golden Knights as one of its original team members. He is the franchise leader in goals (192), points (417), and power-play goals (42).
Marchessault also went to two Stanley Cups, winning one and the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2023.
Things didn’t end on the highest note, however.
Vegas and Marchessault couldn’t agree on a new contract, prompting him to sign with the Predators for five years with an annual average value of $5.5 million on July 1.
“When July 1 happened, I was just sad to not be part of that anymore because I know it’s a great organization,” Marchessault said. “As much as you want to say that they have a reputation of being a hard team, they run a performance-based team. The way they do it sometimes can be harsh, but it’s really a great way to do it.
“I love every single person in that organization. And I’m super grateful for the seven years I was there,” Marchessault said. “It was the ride of a lifetime, and it was unbelievable.”
