WATCH: Golden Knights coach discusses recent run

The Vegas Golden Knights picked up a 3-1 victory against the Anaheim Ducks at T-Mobile Arena on Monday.

It marked the team’s eighth win in nine games and fourth in a row.

More importantly, the Golden Knights are 11-2-1 against Pacific Division rivals and 18-3-2 against the Western Conference.

“Against the whole West, we’ve been very good, and I think that’s certainly something we want to continue doing,” Vegas coach Bruce Cassidy said. “We haven’t had as much success against the East for whatever reason. We don’t see them as much. … We try to prepare every night for the opponent, whoever it happens to be. I think we’ve hit a good stretch here this week.”

The Winnipeg Jets have more points (51) through more games, but the Golden Knights remain atop the NHL in point percentage (.721). They’re 14-3-0 at home and are 8-2 in their last 10 games.

They have a five-point lead on the second-place team (Edmonton Oilers) entering the holiday break.

When asked if his team is the best in the NHL, Cassidy said his team should be in the discussion, given how they’ve played recently.

“I feel like right now we’d have to be in that conversation,” Cassidy said. “It’s kind of hard for me to say, ‘Well, we’re playing better than Washington or whatever teams in the East are going well for it’ because we haven’t seen them for months. But in the West, I certainly feel like right now, we’re going as well as anybody.”
