The Oakland Athletics are on the road against the Seattle Mariners in the last game of the regular season.

In the latest game of the series, Seattle secured a 7-6 victory against the Athletics. The Mariners had a strong three-run 4th inning and added the game’s final two runs in the 9th inning.

Oakland Athletics

The Oakland A’s are hoping to prevent a sweep after losing 7-6 to the Mariners on Saturday. The Oakland Athletics have had a tough year in the AL West with a 69-91 record.

The A’s will start rookie right-hander Mitch Spence. In his last game against the Texas Rangers, he only pitched 4.2 innings, giving up three runs on seven hits. He also had two hit-by-pitches, two walks, and two strikeouts, ending with a no-decision.

The A’s have struggled at the plate. They are tied with the Cincinnati Reds for 20th place with a .694 team OPS..

Their strongest offensive statistic is their ninth-place ranking in baseball with 193 total home runs. Designated hitter Brent Rooker has been a big reason for this. He has been outstanding, boasting a .931 OPS with 38 home runs, 110 RBI, and 81 runs scored.

Seattle Mariners

The Mariners are 2nd in the AL West and four games behind the division-leading Astros. They’ve won three straight games and have a 7-3 record in their last 10 games.

For today’s game against the Athletics, the Mariners are starting right-hander Logan Gilbert, who has a 8-12 record and a 3.33 ERA in 32 starts this season. He has a WHIP of .91 and a batting average allowed of .193. Gilbert has one complete game and 22 quality starts this year.

Gilbert has performed much better at home, with an ERA of 2.77 compared to 5.3 on the road. In a strange twist, the Mariners offense has played better on the road than at home.

Overall, the Mariners rank 21st in scoring at 4.2 runs per game. They have been more effective offensively on the road, averaging 4.6 runs per game compared to 3.7 at home. They are batting .224 as a team and lead the league in strikeouts. The Mariners are 12th in the league in terms of home runs.

A’s-Mariners Best Bet

It is very difficult to sweep a team, but the Mariners have been a much better team than the A’s this season. Will the A’s be able to bounce back from last night’s walk-off loss?

The game really feels like a toss-up, let’s take a look at the total. We have another low total with 7 runs. Both teams offenses lit it up yesterday, but I don’t think they can keep it up.

I’m going with Under 7 runs as the best bet in this game.

Can the A’s bounce back in final series against the Mariners?
